Toshiba Mini Laptop
The first Toshiba mini laptop is cute predictable on the whole. Toshiba NB100 has a 8.9-inch glossy screen with 1024×600 resolution, comes with a choice of XP or Linux Ubuntu, features a microphone, webcam, WIFI, Bluetooth (no 3G yet), up to 120GB hard disk drive and of course Intel’s Atom processor.
So maybe Toshiba has identified a net book, but what is the disparity? Toshiba has an impressive line of laptops, including Toshiba Protégés R500-10U and are keen to remain its brand as well as build quality together hand in hand. That’s why, Toshiba claim, people will purchase the NB100 – because it’s a Toshiba mini laptop.
The battery of Toshiba mini laptop is a 4-cell 5200mAh Toshiba says it will press 3 and a half hours of battery life. This is very poor compared with the newest offerings from Asus, however the overall average among the beautiful mini laptop. Options to go 9-inch netbook have been reaping the benefits of hard road – it’s an incredible slim 0.99kg – that’s the number Toshiba has come up with at any rate.
Keyboard is big surprise, perhaps assisted by the battery extending out the back, hence not to negotiation on keyboard size like on the Dell Inspiron Mini 9. The keyboard does also enlarge all the way to the edges like the Dell as well as has no missing keys such the Dell. Somewhere else on the interface, the touchpad is again, of sensible size – keep in mind it is just about the size of a hardback book.

So you can do better? Yes, the Eee PC 901 – mini laptop we would still recommend over the Toshiba, and maybe Acer Aspire One. But if you want simple, familiar brand names, preferably with XP then the Toshiba NB100 is for you.
